The Neighborhood Revitalization Project

Where a person lives impacts their ability to access employment, education, environmental health, and other opportunities.

The purpose of the Neighborhood Revitalization Project (the project) is to address and eliminate systemic barriers to safe and habitable housing through outreach, education, collaboration, and litigation.  Phase I of the project focused on revitalizing two neighborhoods in East Bakersfield, which have high concentrations of low-income renters, blight, and dilapidated housing.  Phase II of the project will expand focus to addressing substandard housing conditions in all of unincorporated Kern County.
